What Is The Meaning Of Blogging

I have been doing business blogging for the past 15 months at Virtual Project Consulting. Initially, I only applied the principle of providing valuable content. With every blog post my objective was to share information that people would find useful and educational. Now that I understand and appreciate the benefits of blogging and best practice approach to blogging better, I realize why I am so attracted to blogging for business.

I love my diary

You see, I used to write diary for more than 20 years. I was very consistent with it and couldn’t live without my diary. When I got married, I wrote diary about our travel experiences.  With the birth of each child, it obviously became a diary about the high and lows of motherhood and the highlights of my kids milestones and achievements.  My diaries have always been a useful source for photo descriptions in family albums.

Explain Blogging

Originally, blogs or weblogs as they used to be called, started out the same way. It was for people wanting to share their own experiences of travel, parenting or any other subject. Even though many such blogs still exist today, the purpose of blogs became much more sophisticated, but in principle it is still the same. Whether your blog is personal, business related or a company blog, it is about sharing consistently and by being true to yourself. In the case of a company blog, it is still individuals who write the blog posts.

Blogging road blocks

The road to blogging success can be very bulky, believe me. At first, you don’t know what topics to write about, or where to find content. Then you don’t understand keywords and search engine optimization (SEO), the next challenge is to receive traffic to your site. Once you have visitors, you want to engage them and get them to interact with you. Many newbies also don’t blog consistently, because doing it right, requires some planning, research, effort and commitment.

Let me share with you something else I have never told anybody. After publishing my first few blog posts, I used to be too excited to fall asleep.  At first it took me 2 hours or longer to write a fairly decent blog post. When working in the evenings, I published late and went to bed.  I was so thrilled to publish my own information on my own website (that I have complete control over) that I couldn’t sleep . Can you believe it?! I wonder if other people have similar experiences from blogging.

Develop your expertise for business blogging

Anyway, the better I became with blogging, the more I wanted to learn about it. And I think this is how experts are born. They become hooked on a subject, a hobby, a technology or even a job. The more time they spend on it the better they become at it. Eventually they get to know everything there is to know about it and they cannot stop talking, thinking or writing about it. I think that is how it is with blogging too. It is such a fulfilling experience if you can write about topics that you are passionate about or just very interested in and you use your blog as a way to share it with the world.

Can your business afford to be without a blog?

With about 70 million online searches per month there are bound to be people looking for exactly the kind of information that you share. Can you imagine the power of a blog for your business? If you spend most of your waking hours within your business, you are an expert at what you do, don’t you think that business blogging is the perfect way to tell people all about your knowledge and expertise, your products and services?
