Infograpic – Glossary of Online Marketing Terms
This blog about Basic Internet Marketing and Social Media Tools is a mere 9 months old and yet I have received literally hundreds of comments on my different posts. Your reader engagement is impressive and am flattered to receive so many comments which are positive and encouraging. This is a great inspiration for me to keep on writing and to keep you learning and taking action from what you learn here!
It seems that readers also enjoy other reader’s comments. With this post I would like to challenge you as the reader to do the following.
By now you must have learned that blog commenting is a good tactic for getting traffic back to your own site. And if you leave comments on blogs that are also written by thought leaders in your industry, it will boost your online visibility.
To take this a step further, you want to be more visible when you leave a blog comment. You can do that by having a picture show up when you submit a blog comment. An image helps people connect with you, makes you recognizable and memorable. Also use your own name instead of a website description as other readers are more likely to click on your link and find out more about you if they see a picture with a person’s name.
I find that most people commenting on this blog do not have profiles set up, so a generic image is posted next to their comment instead of their face and a link to their website.
What you can do, if you are using WordPress as a blogging platform like I do, you may use Gravatar and Disqus plugins. For Typepad, in the Comment settings, select “show userpics”.
Gravatar is a universal platform that displays a reader’s picture based on the email address he/she enters onto a blog’s comment form.
DISQUS is a comment system you add to your existing blog’s comment functions and adds very powerful features. With Disqus readers can add video comments or leave comments using their Twitter or Facebook ID.
ACTION: Set up your accounts with Gravatar and Disqus so your photo gets pulled into the comments you post on other blogs.
READER CHALLENGE: After you have set up your profile on Gravatar or Disqus or both, please leave a comment below and see how your picture gets pulled in, like mine does when I reply to your comments. (allow me about 24 hours for editing and approval of all comments)
Make your comment in the form of a tip about internet or social media marketing that you want to share with other readers. To the reader with a picture who leaves the best comment (useful tip) I will give away an excellent 180 page e-book, called
